Oct 2013 We had 77 crafters and 1 no show this year and could have fitted in a couple more booths. Once again our crafters came from LA, AL, MS and TX with some beautiful and unique things - Jewelry, Bath & Body items, Hand-painted Glass & Porcelain, Candles, Metal Art, Wood Carving, Painted Feathers - just to name a few. Several of our Crafters have already payed their fees for the 2014 show. We love returning artisans who have become friends we see every year.
We had approximately 2300 - 2400 people who came to see the show and approximately 75-80% left carrying at least one package. We arrived at this figure by having someone watching the exit doors and count several times both days. If you are one of these attendees, we hope to see you again in 2014.
Oct 20, 2011. We had 76 crafters and 4 no-shows this year and once again we had a very full house. Had those 4 crafters come, we would have had one in the lobby. Our crafters came from 4 states - LA, AL, MS and TX - and had some really beautiful things. For the first time we had one gentlemen with leather goods. We had photography for the first time in several years.
And of course we had many old friends returning as well as many new crafters. Based on record sales at our raffle booth and crowd watching, we estimate the weekend crowd to be 2200-2300. This in spite of an LSU game Saturday afternoon, and an early Saints kick off on Sunday.
Once again many thanks to the crafters who make our show. We can't do it without you and we hope you want to continue to do this show.
Slidell Newcomers' Club has sponsored Sell-A-Bration Arts and Craft Show since 1982. We started as a 1 day event with mostly "food tasting tables" with crafts tables - not booths - as an afterthought.
In 1990 we became a 2 day event with only craft booths. For 18 years we were a 2 day event in the Slidell Auditorium with 10 ft x 10 ft booths both inside and outside with very limited electrical connections. We could only fit about 40 crafters inside and the others were in a blocked off street outside.
Now that we have moved to the Northshore Harbor Center we have room to host 75 to 100 crafters and are able to offer 3 sizes of booths - 10 x 10, 10 x 15 and 10 x 20 - all inside - and offering tables with skirting, as well as electricity and phone lines if requested.
In 2008 we had 51 crafters, in mostly 10 x 10 booths, and were thrilled with our success. Imagine our happiness in 2009 when we had 70 crafters, several in 10 x 15 and 10 x 20 booths!
We have set up times for the crafters on Friday afternoon from 3 PM until 6 PM and again Saturday morning from 8 AM to 10 AM. Our show is open on Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM and on Sunday from 11 AM to 4 PM.
